Local Traveller organisations will now be able to obtain advice and support through a new dedicated legal service launched today.
It’s the only dedicated Traveller legal service in the State, which has been set up by the FLAC, the Free Legal Aid Centre.
It will be provided by a fulltime solicitor, Christopher McCann, for a period of three years.
Jamie Murphy, of the Sligo Traveller Support Group, says there are many areas in which the new legal service will be helpful to Travellers.
