Efforts underway to secure childcare in Collooney as creche due to close

Efforts are underway to secure the continued provision of childcare in the Collooney area in the aftermath of news that the Young Explorers Childcare facility in the town is to close from August 14th.

It’s understood the jobs of 10 people are affected.

The facility has provided what has been described as ‘an excellent service’ for children and families of Collooney and the wider hinterland for the last three years.

Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy says he hopes to meet with the creche owner to discuss the matter further:

Fine Gael Councillor Thomas Walsh says he believes that with the support of the Sligo County Childcare Committee and the local business sector, they can come up with a plan to secure childcare provision in Collooney into the future.
