A Sligo/Leitrim TD is calling for a commitment from Taoiseach Micheál Martin and the Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris that the application for a Connacht-Ulster Technological University will be submitted by the end of this year.
The proposed technological university involves IT SLigo, Letterkenny IT and GMIT in Castlebar.
The Taoiseach, in response to Deputy Harkin, said any delays rested locally and not with central government.
However, Deputy Harkin has been telling Ocean FM News about her concerns that IT Sligo could lose out if the application is not submitted before the end of the year because others were not ready.
