There are calls for Sligo County Council to work with Coillte and Sligo Leader on an application for funding to upgrade and promote the Sligo Way Trail.
The trail runs from Lough Talt on the Sligo/Mayo border across county Sligo to Dromahair in County Leitrim.
Fine Gael Councillor Thomas Walsh says there’s also a need for signage promoting the trail as well as for map boards in Coolaney, Collooney, Ballygawley and Ballintogher.
Cllr Walsh says it’s a wonderful but undersold asset in County Sligo.
