It’s go Harvey go for Sligo

The furniture and electronics chain Harvey Norman will open its new Sligo store in October.

It’s part of an expansion by the Australian-owned firm into the west of Ireland.

Harvey Norman currently has 15 stores on the island of Ireland. It’s now opening two new ones – both in the west.

One will be in Galway, and will be the chains biggest operation, employing 50 people. It’s scheduled to open next week.

The new Sligo store, located at the Sligo Retail Park was supposed to open in June – but that plan got delayed because of the Covid outbreak. So, it’s now scheduled to begin training from the end of October. The company hasn’t confirmed yet how many new jobs the Sligo operation will create.

Harvey Norman’s online sales in Ireland grew by 25 per cent during the lockdown – so the company is keen to continue its Irish expansion.
