Ministers Cowen & Noonan expected to visit Drumkeeran today

The Minister for Agriculture, Barry Cowen will visit Drumkeeran today to access the damage caused to a number of roads, bridges, farms and family homes from a recent mountain landslide.

The Agriculture Minister had earlier indicated his intention to carry out an independent report on the recent landslides in the area to establish if forest activity contributed to the slide.

Minister Cowen is believed to be eager to align forestry licensing with the planning system.

OceanFM news also understands that the Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform, the Green party’s Malcolm Noonan will also visit the north Leitrim town later today.
