Brexit & Stimulus Package expected to dominate cabinet meeting



The July stimulus package will be among the issues raised at a meeting of government ministers today.

Cabinet’s meeting at Dublin Castle for what will be the fourth time since government was formed last month.

Brexit and the Covid-19 Credit Guarantee Scheme for business’ will also be on the agenda.

A further meeting of ministers to discuss travel restrictions and the governments ‘green list’ is likely to take place later in the week.

Meanwhile the British government’s launching a public information campaign to help businesses and the public ahead of the end of the Brexit transition period.

From today, new adverts will direct people to an online checker tool to show what steps need to be taken.

Companies will also be able to contact a helpline for one-to-one support over the phone.

It comes as work begins today on a new border control area in south-east England to deal with any potential disruption when the UK leaves the EU.
