The Sinn Féin justice spokesman, Martin Kenny TD, says that any rowing back on the Programme for Government promise not to extend the old age pension age this year would be unacceptable.
The Sligo Leitrim TD says “People of pension age deserve their pensions and should receive them.
Deputy Kenny says the current coalition have already begun talk of a “review” of pension arrangements and this leads him to think an announcement on extending the pension age could be on the cards.
