Sligo Councillors demand ‘hotline access’ to Eir

The local authority in Sligo will write to the Chief Executive of Eir to request that a priority phone number be established to enable Councillors make  contact with the communications company in relation to technical issues their constituents are having with broadband and phone lines.

Sligo Drumcliffe Councillor Donal Gilroy tabled a motion on the issue at this week’s meeting of Sligo County Council.

He says that that during the recent pandemic some elderly and at-risk constituents had faults with their telephone lines, and were unable to communicate effectively with Eir to report the fault.

Cllr Gilroy requested that a simple procedure be put in place to avoid any GDPR Infringement and allow Councillors to make representations on behalf of Eir Customers.
