Latest round of road safety measures underway in Ballintogher

The second phase of road safety measures has begun in Ballintogher, Co. Sligo.

The €30,000 funding will go towards raising the pedestrian crossing by St. Theresa’s National School which aims to slow traffic, safety ramps are to be erected on the Dromahair side and the entirety of Main Street is to be re-tarred.

Sligo Sinn Fein Councillor, Thomas Healy, has been working with the R290 Action Group over the past number of years on a number of safety improvements in the area.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Councillor Healy says these works are the latest in a long line of improvements for villages in the area and it’s hoped a third phase can be achieved.
