People across region urged to continue conserving water

People across the north west are being urged to continue conserving water.

A national hosepipe ban came into effect on the 9th of June and will remain until at least Tuesday, the 21st of July.

While rain is being forecast, it takes a significant amount of water to refill reserves.

Irish Water representatives say that the likes of the Kilsellagh drinking supply in by Sligo Town is at a ‘critical drought status’ while others such as Rosses Point and Collooney are also being monitored.

Some of the ways of helping are to  not use a hose or power washer, reuse household water in the garden and take shorter showers.
