Sligo Rovers weigh up FAI proposal on return to play

Sligo Rovers officials are reviewing the latest FAI financial presentation on a resumption of the League of Ireland in August.

In a statement issued on Friday night, club officials confirmed they met with the FAI on Thursday and Friday, along 18 other clubs.

The Bit O’ Red are not in a position to go into details at this time.

The situation remains complex, with many variables, and various talks will continue from next week.

The management committee remain in constant dialogue and the club says it will provide an update as soon as it is appropriate.

The statement asks fans for continued patience as Rovers work through the negotiations.

Several clubs have sought guarantees from the FAI that returning to play won’t plunge them into deep debt.

Finn Harps will hold a board meeting on Monday night to review the FAI proposal, the detail of which hasn’t been made public yet.
