Mixed response to expected ‘beef funding’ announcment



The IFA President Tim Cullinan  has welcomed the news that the government will put a proposed package for beef finishers in front of the Cabinet today.

 

 

The IFA had made submissions to Government showing that beef finishers had lost over €20m as a result of the COVID price impact.

 

 

The IFA President said that ‘the closure of the food service sector across Europe really hit beef finishers and they badly need help to cover these losses.

Ocean FM News understands that locally farmers in the North West are unhappy that that none of the fund is being made available to Suckler Cow farmers with the IFA Chairperson in Sligo, among those raising concerns.

 

IFA president Tim Cullinan has been telling OceanFM news what he expects from today’s announcement and he also addressed the issues raised in relation to suckler cow farmers.
