New councillor co opted onto Sligo County Council



A new councillor was co opted onto Sligo County Council this weekend.

Arthur Gibbons was unanimously selected during an online convention on Friday to fill the vacant seat left behind by Sinn Fein’s Chris MacManus who is now an MEP for Midlands/Northwest.

He previously served on Sligo Borough Council from 1999 until 2014.

He will officially become a Sligo Councillor at the Sligo County Council meeting on June 15th.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Arthur Gibbons says he never stopped working on local issues and aims to continue now that he’ll be a councillor.
