Sligo stages ‘Black Lives Matter’ protest

About 150 people tooktaken part in a ‘Black Lives Matter’ protest in Sligo town centre on Friday

They gathered outside City Hall on Quay Street to show their solidarity with George Floyd, who was murdered in the United States last week.

The protest had attracted criticism in the the run-up because of covid concerns around a gathering in Sligo of this size.

Almost all the protesters, mainly young people, wore face maskes and gloves.
