Sligo-Ballina road closed due to forest fire



The N59 Sligo to Ballina road remains closed until further because of smoke from a forest fire crossing the roadway near Culleens.

Traffic from Sligo side is being diverted via R297 at Dromore West

Traffic travelling from Ballina is being diverted via R298 at Lacknaslieva.

Residents in Culleens were advised to close their windows, because of the extent of the smoke.

A fire near Dromore West in the townlands of Cannaghanally and Buncrowey is also causing concern,

The Fire Service is at the scene.
