North West Technological University must remain a priority

A Sligo/Leitrim TD is calling on the Minister for Education to not let the proposed North West Technological University go to the ‘bottom of the list.’

Independent TD, Marian Harkin, raised her concerns in the Dail recently with Donegal TD, Minister Joe McHugh.

She highlighted the fact that Letterkenny has been allocated funds for cross border education with Derry’s Magee University which prompted her to ask the Minister if this would negatively affect the proposal.

NWTU will encompass ITSligo, LYIT and GMIT meaning there will be 8 campuses spread across counties Sligo, Donegal and Galway.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Deputy Harkin says she supports all cross border cooperation but is concerned that there could be delays for the North West.
