Creed placing the livelihood of fishermen at risk

The Minister for Agriculture Minister Michael Creed and his officials have been accused of putting the livelihood of fishermen at risk in the North West and endangering the future of the entire fisheries industry.

That’s the view of a leading fisheries Spokesman in Donegal.

Minister Creed has rejected appeals for specific COVID supports from the fishing industry which it claimed is fighting for its very survival in the face of the pandemic.

The Minister has instead announced a Covid-19 Voluntary Fleet Tie-up Scheme, which Sean O’ Donoughe from the Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation, has described as being ‘completely unfit for purpose’
