Golf and tennis clubs glad to be back

Golf clubs and tennis courts can re-open from today under phase 1 of the Government’s easing of lockdown restrictions.

Clubhouse’s and locker-rooms will remain closed and access is restricted to members who live within five kilometres of the golf club.

Players are being directed to change in their cars on arrival and to return straight to their vehicles after completion of their round.

After being close for two months, the timesheet at County Sligo Golf Club in Rosses Point (for today May 18th) opened online last Wednesday and was full within five minutes of going online.

County Sligo says the prospect of no golf tourists or visitors coming to the region in 2020 means the club is facing an estimated shortfall of €600,000 in income this year.

Bundoran Golf Club’s Kevin Carmody joined the Ocean FM Sport on Sunday team to explain the measures they’ve put in place for re-opening of the golf course:

Tennis club are also re-opening with restrictions from today
