New fund may not be enough for Councils to provide services

A Sligo Councillor has raised concerns that the funding announced recently to help local councils continue to provide services during the Covid-19 pandemic will not  be enough to help many local authorities that have witnessed severe reductions to their revenues.

The Concerns have been expressed by Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy.

At the beginning of the month the government announced details of a new €260m fund for all of the local authority’s in the Country.

Cllr Healy doubts if this fund will be sufficient to cover the shortfall that currently exists
