Traveller Group warns about mental health impact of Covid-19

A warning has been issued to all communities and individuals to mind their mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Sligo Traveller Support Group has issued the warning after claims that people being cut off from their family and friends, restrictions to their daily activities and the constant bombardment of  news and social media content on Covid 19 are all combining to have a negative impact on mental health.

Jamie Murphy from the Sligo Traveller Support Group says the issue is of huge importance for members of the traveller community with suicide rates at least seven times higher than many other communities.
