Leaving Cert Exams should take place in North West

A North West based Secondary school vice-Principal says the leaving cert examinations should could go ahead in the local region this summer.

There are reports today suggesting the examinations could be staged at the tail-end of the summer or in the autumn as the government believes it’s unlikely the restrictions will be lifted in time for their usual June start date.

Former Local and General election candidate Sean Wynne is the vice principal of Drumshanbo Vocational School.

Mr Wynne says there are options for running the Leaving Cert in community centres  to ensure that social distancing is  not an issue.

The Drumshanbo teacher added that and that with the number of Covid-19 cases fewer in the North West than compared to the likes of Dublin, the exams should go ahead in regions where the reported number of the virus are low.
