Churches prepare to celebrate Easter ceremonies online

There will be no public celebration of holy week and Easter liturgies in churches this week because of the current Government regulations.

Instead, celebrations of liturgies will be available via parish/diocesan video feeds and on local radio.

Austin O’Callaghan reports…

Ocean FM will broadcast the Easter ceremonies live from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Sligo at the following times:

  • Wed, April 8th:  Penitential Service, 7pm
  • Thurs, April 9th: Mass of Lord’s Supper, 7pm
  • Fri, April 10th: Solemn Celebration of the Lord’s Passion, 3pm
  • Sun, April 12th: Easter Sunday Mass, 10:30am.

The Diocese of Elphin has produced a Holy Week guide specifically for people to follow at home.  It also includes some ideas for people who may not be able to access ceremonies online but can still experience Holy Week at home. You can view the guide here.
