The President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins has paid tribute to the country’s frontline workers during the COVID 19 pandemic.
In a special address, which was broadcast simultaneously across the country’s 34 independent national and local radio stations on Thursday, President Higgins offered a message of hope to the people of Ireland.
He also expressed his sympathy to those who had been bereaved – and to all essential workers who, he said, were risking their safety in order to ensure the continued delivery of necessary services.
