30,000 being denied emergency Covid funding

It’s been claimed that 30,000 people who are living in Northern Ireland and working in the Republic are being refused Covid-19 unemployment funding by the Irish government.

The claims have been made by Donegal MD Councillor Michael McMahon who claims that many of these people are facing dire straits with their employment now having ceased.

The Sinn Fein Councillor says the individuals in question are being informed that they are not eligible to secure Covid-19 funding from the Irish government due to the fact they are living in Northern Ireland.

Cllr McMahon says it’s a disgraceful way to treat workers who have paid taxes and made a vital contribution to the Irish economy over a long number of years.
