Mona McSharry’s reaction to Olympics postponement

Grange swimmer Mona McSharry (Marlins Swimming Club) was bidding to become the first Sligo sportsperson since cyclist Mark Scanlon in 2004 to compete at an Olympic Games.

But that ambition is on hold for another 12 months at least, following the decision to postpone the Tokyo Games until 2021.

Mona gave her reaction to Ocean FM’s Emma McGrievy:

Swim Ireland confirmed on Wedesday that all domestic national and regional competition have been cancelled for the rest of the season.
