Ireland West Airport to temporarily close next week



Ireland West Airport in Knock is to temporarily close at the end of the month due to COVID-19.

As of tomorrow night, Tuesday the 23rd of March, Ryanair is to suspend all flights to and from the airport and as of Sunday the 29th of March, Aer Lingus is to also suspend their London Gatwick service.

Following this, the airport has decided to close and to temporary lay-off members of staff in order to safeguard the future of the facility.

In a Statement to Ocean FM, Managing Director at Ireland West Airport Knock, Joe Gilmore states that “the past few weeks have been some of the most challenging in the airports history and the staff have gone above and beyond their duty in assisting anxious passengers.”

“They insist that they are confident that they can overcome this crisis and both the airport and region will come back stronger then ever before.”
