More events cancelled ahead of St Patrick’s day weekend due to Covid 19

Friday the 13th has many connotations right throughout history for bringing bad luck but today it brings bad luck in the form of cancelled events in the North West due to the coronavirus.

The Cartown Nightclub in Carrick on Shannon which is attended by a number of teenagers right across connaught is be cancelled for this evening.

In a statement on Facebook, the club said that “the decision has been taken in the interests of the health and wellbeing of our patrons and this follows the announcement from Government that all St.Patrick’s Day parades and festivities will be cancelled due to concerns over Covid-19.”

The nightclub says they will announce rescheduled dates when conditions improve and in line with HSE guidelines and all tickets purchased for the event will be valid for the rescheduled date only.

Another event which has fallen victim to the virus is The White Hag’s Paddy’s Weekend Taproom event in Ballymote.

The White Hag, which is a beer brewing company says they are cancelling their own St.Patrick’s day celebration at their brewery so as not to risk the health and well being of their customers and suppliers.

They are also set to limit the engagement with 3rd parties at the brewery until the current threat has subsided.
