MacSharry calls for sporting events to be played behind closed doors

The Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on tourism transport and sport has called on the government to stage all major sporting events behind closed doors for a period of month in order to try and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

Sligo Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry says it’s up to the Government to provide guidance to the various sporting bodies in relation to what events should be staged without spectators being present.

Deputy MacSharry says the responsibility should not be left to the respective sporting bodies and has urged the government to assume leadership and issue clear directives to all sporting bodies.
