Proposal to reduce Sligo Fire Service personnel ‘doesn’t make sense’

A proposal to downgrade and reduce the total number of members of Sligo Fire Service ‘doesn’t make sense.’

That’s according to Sinn Fein Councillor, Thomas Healy, who is calling on Sligo County Council not to follow through with the idea.

The proposal includes reducing the full time members of the service from 4 to 1.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Councillor Healy says the station is also a training centre and there have been generations of fire fighters in Sligo.
