HSE no longer providing Occupational Therapy reports for free

The HSE’s decision to no longer provide Occupational Therapy reports for those applying for housing adaptation grants for free is being described as a ‘cruel way of treating people.’

Independent TD, Michael Fitzmaurice, is making the comments following the health executive informing all local authorities in the country of the new arrangement.

The funding is used for home extensions such as knocking a wall to build a downstairs bedroom or bathroom or for making a room wheelchair accessible.

The elderly and people with physical disabilities are the main benefactors of the grants.

Deputy Fitzmaurice says he doesn’t see the ‘merit’ in the choice.
