Another Donegal school cancels trip due to Coronavirus fears

A secondary school in Bundoran in Co. Donegal is the 2nd reported school in the region that has cancelled their school trip over fears of Coronavirus.

Magh-Éne College in Bundoran has cancelled their 5th year educational trip to Rhineland in Germany.

The 33 students and staff were due to travel on the 3rd of April to Frankfurt airport and on into Rhineland for 3 nights.

Acting Principal at the College, Pat Tighe told Ocean FM News that ‘The students health and wellbeing is our top priority and by allowing this trip to go ahead would potentially risk the health of all involved.”

This is the second school today to make this announcement.

Ocean FM news understands that Coola post primary school in Riverstown has taken the decision to cancel their annual TY skiing trip to Andalo.

This follows a meeting with parents and the board of management who took the decision to cancel the trip late last night.

The flight was due to leave late this evening with the 53 students along with students from another school in the north of Ireland to Verona, a airport and city which is now on high alert as Italy now has over 3,800 cases of Coronavirus.
