Collection of dead animals resumes in north west



The collection of dead animals from farms has resumed today in the north west.

 

Knackeries had decided not to collect the animals in a dispute with the Department of Agriculture over the lack of progress on a fallen animal scheme.

 

The strike commenced last week,

 

Agreement was reached between the Animal Collections Agency and the Department of Agriculture over the past twenty four hours to resolve the dispute.

 

The Interim Chairman of the Beef plan movement is Ballyshannon farmer Patrick Rooney.

 

The north Leitrim native says the settlement of the dispute comes as welcome news to farmers across the counties of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.
