Bree blasts HSE over St John’s vacancy

A local councillor is accusing the HSE of being ‘dysfunctional’ and has described them as ‘not fit for purpose’.

Sligo/Strandhill Independents 4 Change councillor, Declan Bree is criticising the HSE management’s failure to replace a full time member of staff at St John’s Community Hospital Cafe in Sligo.

At a meeting of the Regional Health Forum West in Galway nearly a year ago, Cllr Bree pointed out that the staff member who operated the hospital cafe would be retiring on the 31st of December 2019.

The HSE stated at that meeting that they have to remain within budget, and committed to exploring all options available to ensure the shop remain open.

Cllr Bree says the decision in relation to the post is waiting for the approval of the HSE’s National Director of Community Operations since the 13th of November 2019.
