The Mayor of Sligo is calling for an emergency sick pay fund for all healthcare workers to be created immediately.
People before profit councillor, Gino O’Boyle says he has grave concerns for all healthcare staff as many of them work while they are sick because their terms and conditions do not provide for sick pay.
He believes it should not take an outbreak of coronavirus and visitor restrictions at Sligo university hospital for the government to tackle something that is a risk to health and safety and has been ongoing for years.
Cllr O’Boyle believes prevention must be put in place like it was for the BSE crisis.
