Man sustains injuries on Errigal mountain



The rescue 118 helicopter and Donegal Mountain Rescue were called to help a person in difficulty on Errigal yesterday.

 

The call out was reported shortly after 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

 

The Casualty was safely removed off the hill, and team were stood down.

 

The Irish Coast Guard was also involved in the operation.

 

The man who sustained the injuries while on a hike was safely stretchered off Errigal Mountain following a four hour rescue operation.

 

The rescue operation involved a number of emergency services including the Irish Coast Guard, the Rescue 118 helicopter and volunteers from Donegal Mountain Rescue.

 

It’s understood that other hikers came across the man who had sustained head, shoulder and knee injuries.

 

Difficult weather conditions hampered prevented the casualty being airlifted off the mountain.

 

Efforts were then made to bring the man off the mountain in a stretcher.
