IT Sligo express concern for students abroad over coronavirus

With school trips abroad becoming a focus of concern amid efforts to combat the coronavirus, the President of IT Sligo says the major concern for now is for students and staff who are abroad at present or who are planning to go abroad in the near future.

But Dr Brendan McCormack says it’s business as usual at present.

Meanwhile, a secondary school in Dublin is to close for 14 days following the first case of the coronavirus in the Republic of Ireland.

And public health teams are looking at providing risk assessments in the coming days for the planning of various events that will attract large crowds, including for St Patrick’s Day festivities.

Dr McCormack told Ocean FM how IT Sligo’s critical incident team has already met a few times, but he says the IT will be taking its direction from the HSE.
