Sligo to Connolly train line under threat as more rain forecast

Irish Rail is continuing to monitor its Sligo/Dublin service because of flooding on the line around Carrick on Shannon and Dromod in County Leitrim.

There had been reports that the service might have to be suspended due to the severe flooding.

But although the situation has eased somewhat, there are concerns that flood levels could rise again over the weekend.

Barry Kenny, of Irish Rail, says there’s a challenging weather forecast ahead.
