No trade deal without agreement on fisheries



The Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation says unless a fisheries deal is agreed between Britain and the EU, there will be no trade deal.

His comments follow the EU General Affairs Council agreeing this week to uphold the existing two-way access to fishing waters used by UK and EU fishermen prior to Brexit.

The move is set to cause tensions with British fishermen.

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had claimed earlier this month that once free of the EU’s Common Fisheries Policy, “British fishing grounds would be first and foremost for British boats”

But Sean O’ Donoghue, CEO of the Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation says that cannot be the case:
