A north Leitrim councillor is calling on the county council to find a solution to a problem with slippery streets and roads that he says exits in Manorhamilton.
Areas of particular concern are located at The Commons entrance and old Church Street, known locally as Monkey Row.
The matter was raised at this month’s Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting of Leitrim Council by Independent Councillor Felim Gurn, who told Ocean FM that it does not take a major fall of snow to bring traffic in the town to a standstill.
He says that in Northern Ireland, there is a surface put on roads that prevents them becoming slippery and enables vehicle wheels get a grip.
