There’s growing concern among householders in the north west over the rising cost of waste disposal, with three motions on the issue among items for discussion at this coming Monday’s meeting of Leitrim County Council.
Manorhamilton Municipal District Fine Gael Councillor Sean McDermott is to request the Council at Monday’s meeting to make contact with the relevant minister over the rising costs for the service.
With illegal dumping becoming more of a problem, particularly in rural areas, some councillors in different counties have been calling for the waste collection service to be returned to the control of local authorities.
Cllr McDermott says more people are now coming to councillors about the issue.
