The HSE is advising that all first-year secondary school students in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal receive the HPV vaccine.
It’s as HSE vaccination teams return to schools to offer the second dose of the vaccine and a vaccine dose to first-year students.
The HSE says it is encouraged by the uptake for the first dose of the vaccine for first-year students since September 2019.
Dr Anthony Breslin, specialist in Public Health Medicine for the HSE, says this is also the first year boys have been offered the vaccine, which protects against HPV cancers and meningitis.
