Council urged to provide lighting on Manorhamilton Stretch

Calls were made at this month’s meeting of Manorhamilton Municipal District for Leitrim County Council to provide ducting and lighting on the section of new demonstration stretch of the SLNCR from Ramooney over the railway bridge onto Boggaun Community Pitch.

The calls were made by independent Councillor Felim Gurn.

Cllr Gurn says there are many people using the route for walking and cycling from St Clare’s Hall in the town to the bridge.

The local authority claim however that the greenway is a rural walkway and it’s not council policy or practical to light rural walkways.

Speaking to OceanFM News Cllr Gurn says an exception should be made and that the infrastructure should be put in place during the construction phase of the project.
