A man arrested in Co. Sligo as part of a Garda operation into the sale and supply of drugs in the region has been charged.
A 49 year old, Lithuanian national appeared before a special sitting of Sligo District Court on Saturday evening where he was charged under Section 3 and 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977.
Gardaí, backed up with members of the Armed Support unit, searched a premises on Friday in the townland of Clogherevagh and discovered 80 cannabis plants with an estimated value of €64,000.
The 49 year old was arrested at the scene along with 4 other men in counties Mayo and Roscommon.
A total estimated value of €289,000 of cannabis plants and resin was seized during searches across the three counties.
