Donegal councillor claims state is ‘utterly dismissive’ of islands



A Donegal councillor claims the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht is not giving enough time and resources to islands of the west coast.

Independent Councillor, Micheál Cholm MacGiolla Easbuig, says the state is ‘utterly dismissive’ of the nations islands.

An assessment of the needs of inhabitants is due to take place soon that the smaller islands were initially not going to be a part of until concern was raised.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Councillor MacGiolla Easbuig believs the department sees them as a ‘burden.’
