Gardai in Sligo Town have confirmed that they detained a five axle low loader at 4.30am on Sunday morning travelling towards Donegal.
The low loader was carrying a digger, buckets and fuel tank.
The vehicle was required to have a permit issued by the local County Council in order to travel however the driver did not have the necessary paperwork and was almost 16 tonnes overweight.
Gardai prevented the vehicle from travelling due to safety concerns over the weight of the vehicle.
Gardai have confirmed that a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice will be issued to the driver.
