Majority of Sligo/Leitrim candidates sign climate pledge

About a dozen of the 19 general election candidates in Sligo/Leitrim have signed a pledge opposing the importation of fracked gas.

Candidates who sign the Pledge4Climate initiative agree that, if elected, they will work to oppose not only the importation of fracked gas but the carrying otfof fracking anywhere in Ireland.

The campaign is being promoted locally by the Love Leitrim Campaign, the chairperson of which is Jamie Murphy.

Meanwhile, a climate election hustings event that was to held in Manorhamilton last Monday had to be postponed because of bad weather.
