CAP must deliver necessary support for farmers



The Common Agricultural Policy must deliver the necessary supports for farmers in the North West.

 

That’s according to Sligo/Leitrim Independent General Election candidate and former MEP Marian Harkin who attended a local public meeting of the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association in Sligo town.

 

The Independent candidate is calling to allow the full convergence of pillar one payments which she claims would boost extensive farming practises through tailored Argi Environmental schemes.

 

Marian Harkin claims that full convergence figures would deliver over €7 million to Leitrim, over €5 to Sligo and approx. €17 to Donegal:
