Thousands of local residents may not be able to vote

A Donegal TD says he fears thousands of people in the north west will not be able to vote in the general election because it is taking place before the new voting register comes into force.

Fianna Fail Deputy, Pat the Cope Gallagher says this will particularly affect young people who had registered to vote.

Deputy Gallagher has also expressed concerns that because the names of some people who have died are on the old register, polling cards and correspondence will be sent out in their names.
