IT Sligo and Letterkenny both enjoy Sigerson wins

IT Sligo produced an impressive display on Sunday at home to University of Limerick to book a place in next weekend’s Sigerson Cup quarter-finals.

Benji Drummond’s side beat UL on a final scoreline of 0-8 to 0-5.

The key to this Sligo win was their defensive display as, playing a ‘home’ Sigerson game for the first time since 2011, they gave Limerick precious few scoring opportunities.

Here are the closing stages of the game, as described by the Ocean FM Sport commentary team of Cathal Mullaney and three-time Sigerson Cup winner Michael Moyles:

IT Sligo’s prize is a home quarter-final against Letterkenny IT next weekend. The Donegal college, managed by Michael Murphy, marked their first ever Sigerson appearance with an impressive 1-17 to 3-4 win away to Athlone IT.
